How I Decided to Treat Hemorrhoids Before They Took Complete Control of Me
I had to learn how to treat hemorrhoids safely, which were beginning to control every area of my life. When I first found that I had the symptoms of piles, and while I searched all across the Internet for what ailed me, I stopped by my doctor, just in case. Maybe it was the slight pain, maybe it was the blood in the toilet, but I felt I could never be too careful, you know?
So, off I went to see what the problem was.
This is something I recommend to anyone who shares the same symptoms of pain or even itching in your anus or anal canal. Why is this? It’s just hemorrhoids, right? Maybe, but what if it is cancer? What if it is something a lot more serious than just piles?
Just some essential relevant information for you:
As outlined by “The American College of Gastroenterology”, hemorrhoids are actually common and by age 50, almost 50 % of Americans have piles. Almost 5% of the people in the US (15,000,000 people) has searched for medical help for symptomatic hemroids.
A lot more people, who have problems with hemorrhoids, never seek formal medical hemorrhoid treatment.
It is evident that, constipation and digestive diseases are taking over the nation (US).
What are the different types of hemorrhoids?
External hemorrhoids are dilated veins covered by the skin near the anal opening. They may be felt as bumps or lumps near the outside of the anus, and become painful when they are swollen with blood.
Internal hemorrhoids are dilated veins that form inside the rectum and above the anal opening, and are therefore termed as “internal”. However, in some situations they may enlarge and protrude (prolapse) out of the anus.
What are the symptoms of hemorrhoids?
- Painless bleeding during bowel movements — you might notice small amounts of bright red blood on your toilet tissue or in the toilet bowl
- Itching or irritation in your anal region
- Pain or discomfort
- Hemorrhoids protruding from your anus
- Swelling around your anus
- A sensitive or painful lump near your anus
- Leakage of feces
Answering a few questions from my doctor, it was a relief, sort of, that it was not anything more serious than hemorrhoids. It was found that I had gotten a little bit carried away with a recent bowel movement. You see, I suffer from constipation quite often. Maybe it’s the lack of fiber in my diet? I don’t know.
But, I found out from my doctor that my extra struggle with constipation resulted in bringing down the house, so to speak. The inner lining of my anal canal came tumbling down and out. Looking at the pictures, it looked like a bunch of grapes hanging where they shouldn’t have been.
While it was a relief to know that I wasn’t suffering from something more serious, I was only beginning to suffer from other things. My social life had been hanging by a thread as it was, but I was happy with it. My wife and kids had been happy with me, and so had my friends.
But now, with my light medical condition, this embarrassing situation was starting to take its toll on me. How do I explain my condition to my kids? Or to my friends? My wife was a supporter; she knew what I was suffering from, having been through it with her last pregnancy.
As my case of hemorrhoids persisted, things started to get worse for me. For weeks I had been able to talk my way out of itchy situations, make excuses why I couldn’t go out to the movies or to eat with friends, but it started getting to the point where I started to feel guilty about it. Plus, none of the medicines my doctor prescribed worked to eliminate my problem.
When I started missing work, I started to worry.
Missing a day here and there was nothing major, at first. But when I started missing a week at a time, at least four times a year, I had to take stock and get some serious treatment.

My doctor suggested some treatments that could be possible: sclerotherapy (injecting phenol or quinine urea into the base of my hemorrhoids), rubber band litigation (using rubber bands to cut off blood flow at the base of the hemorrhoids), heat coagulation (using heat to kill hemorrhoidal tissue), and cryotherapy (using cold to wipe out the veins in the hemorrhoids).
None of these sounding all that exciting to me so, while left to make my decision on whether to undergo one of these surgeries or just try to live with my pain, I went to Google in search of my own relief.

The vast majority of hemorrhoids are best treated at home, so I’m glad you found the help you needed instead of having to have surgery. It’s important to use the full range of treatments open to you if you’re going to go that route, especially if the hemorrhoids are far advanced at all. With serious hemorrhoid problems, it can be difficult to get them to fully resolve without surgery of some kind. Symptom relief, lifestyle changes, home cures and natural remedies all have a part to play in the process. In addition, even if you need surgery, you may be able to use a less severe form when you combine them with these home remedies.
